Gastro Florida is proud to welcome board-certified gastroenterologist and hepatologist, Dr. Bakht S. Cheema, to our expert team. Dr. Cheema brings an exceptional depth of training and a passion for providing compassionate, comprehensive care for a wide range of digestive and liver disorders. He is now accepting new patients at our locations in Wesley Chapel and Zephyrhills.
Dr. Cheema’s distinguished academic journey includes an Internal Medicine residency at the University of Texas at Austin, where he served as Chief Resident. He further honed his expertise through a Transplant Hepatology fellowship at the prestigious Baylor College of Medicine and a Gastroenterology & Hepatology fellowship at UF Health Jacksonville, where he again rose to the role of Chief Fellow. This advanced training has equipped him with specialized skills in managing complex liver and pancreatic disorders, Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), preventive cancer screenings, hemorrhoid management, and he is highly proficient in advanced procedures like Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS).
An active member of leading professional societies including the AGA, AASLD, ASGE, and ACG, Dr. Cheema is committed to lifelong learning. Beyond his practice, he is dedicated to our community, regularly volunteering his expertise at a local charity clinic. He enjoys spending time with his wife and kids, staying active, and traveling. We are confident that his exceptional skills and compassionate approach will be a tremendous asset to our patients.
