Dr. Abbas is a Board-Certified Gastroenterologist, Interventional and bariatric endoscopist. Dr. Abbas is one among handful of fellowship-trained bariatric/advanced endoscopists nationwide who graduated from Harvard Medical School’s Brigham & Women’s Hospital. He completed his Gastroenterology fellowship at the University of South Florida after finishing Internal Medicine residency at the University of Florida-Gainesville. He earned his medical degree from Al-Kindy College of Medicine and MPH in Epidemiology from Tulane University as a Fulbright Scholar. From 2020-2022, Dr. Abbas was an Assistant Professor of Medicine and Surgery at the University of South Florida and the Director of Bariatric Endoscopy service. Dr. Abbas introduced several cutting-edge advanced endoscopy procedures to the USF-TGH system. Additionally, Dr. Abbas had one of the highest adenoma detection rates (68% and 54% for male and female patients respectively) for screening colonoscopy in USF-TGH system. He is providing office visits and endoscopies in our new Wesley Chapel practice and hospital GI consults & procedures at Advent Health Wesley Chapel and the new BayCare Hospital Wesley Chapel.

Dr. Bajwa obtained his medical degree from the Medical University of the Americas. He completed a residency in Internal Medicine from Allegheny Hospital, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He completed fellowship training in Gastroenterology from Allegheny Hospital in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania and Advanced Endoscopy at Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn, New York. Dr. Bajwa is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. He has been in private practice in Pinellas County since 2014. Dr. David J. Becker is Board Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Internal Medicine and the subspecialty of Gastroenterology. He was born in Syracuse, New York. He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and completed his fellowship in Gastroenterology at Bowman Gray School of Medicine, Wake Forest University in 1989. Dr. Umesh Choudhry established a gastroenterology practice in 1998 after serving as Assistant Professor at the University of South Florida. He obtained his Medical Degree from the University of Delhi in India, conducted his residency training at St. Vincent Hospital in Indiana, and Gastroenterology fellowship at Wright State University in Ohio. He completed an Advanced Fellowship in Swallowing Disorders and Endoscopic Ultrasonography at the University of South Florida Center for Swallowing Disorders. He received the ASGE national scholarship for this training in 1995 thereby becoming one of very few physicians in the nation with such training. He has published several articles, book chapters, research papers. He has served as the Chairman of the Department of Medicine and Endoscopy at Morton Plant Hospital and is very active in charitable and cultural organizations.

Dr. Daly was born in Indianapolis, Indiana. He received his MD at the Indiana University School of Medicine where he also served his internship and residency. Dr. Daly then completed a fellowship in Gastroenterology at the University of South Florida. He is board-certified in Internal Medicine and in Gastroenterology. He is a past president of the medical staffs of Mease Hospital and Helen Ellis Memorial Hospital. Dr. Degala graduated from Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences, Bangalore, India. He completed his Internal Medicine residency training, Gastroenterology Fellowship, and Advanced Therapeutic Endoscopy Fellowship at Henry Ford Hospital, Michigan. After fellowship, he joined the teaching faculty of the Division of Gastroenterology at Henry Ford Hospital and Health System before joining Advanced Digestive Care, PA., and Gastro Florida. He has a special clinical interest in endoscopic diagnosis and treatment of complete disorders of the pancreas and biliary tract. Dr. Degala specializes in advanced therapeutic endoscopic procedures including ERCP, Endoscopic Ultrasound, HALO/BARRX radiofrequency ablation therapy, endoscopic mucosal resection, and enteral stenting. Dr. DeVicente was born and raised in St. Petersburg, Florida as a fifth generation resident. After completing two undergraduate degrees from the University of Florida (Zoology and Spanish), he later received his MD degree from the same institution where he was inducted into the Golden Humanism Honor Society (Chapman Chapter) which honors medical students "who demonstrate exemplary behavior that promotes humanism and professionalism in the practice of Medicine." Dr. DeVicente completed his Internal Medicine training at the Medical University of South Carolina and later continued with a fellowship in Gastroenterology where he specialized in Endoscopic Ultrasound. He performed externships at 2 Hospitals in Valencia, Spain (El Hospital Clinico de La Fe and El Hospital Clinico de La Facultad de Medicina) and is fluent in Spanish. Dr. Glamour received his MD degree with distinction from Dayanand Medical College (Ludhiana, India) in 1985. He completed his residency training in Internal Medicine and fellowship in Gastroenterology from Case Western Reserve University (Cleveland, Ohio) in 1995. He received the Outstanding Resident award during his training and was selected to become Chief Resident. He is board certified in Gastroenterology and Hepatology. Since moving to St. Petersburg in 1995, Dr. Glamour has been in private practice and is voted to be one of the top doctors in Florida. In addition to his private practice, Dr. Glamour is an active member of the community. He is the founding member of the Free Hepatitis C Clinic (Chance Center) and has been serving the St. Petersburg Free Clinic for almost 20 years. As a result of these achievements, he received the Award of Excellence for Service to Our Community by the Tampa Hepatitis & Liver Support Group and was decorated with the Angels of Mercy award by the local community. Furthermore, Dr. Glamour serves as a member and chair in various departments, committees, and boards of the local St. Petersburg hospitals. Dr. Glamour and his wife live in St. Petersburg. They have raised four children.

Dr. Khanijow was raised in Tampa, Florida. He graduated from University of South Florida with a major in Biology. He received his medical degree from Morsani School of Medicine at University of South Florida. He completed his internship and residency at University of Texas at Houston. He completed a chief medical residency at University of Texas at Houston. Thereafter, he completed his fellowship training in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at George Washington University Hospital in Washington D.C. Dr. Khanijow joins us after working as a gastroenterologist in southern New Jersey for the last two years. Dr. Khanijow has interests in colorectal cancer screening, irritable bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease, and liver disease, but treats all gastrointestinal illnesses. He also has a focus on wireless capsule endoscopy. Dr. Khanijow’s outside interests include traveling, boxing, and fine dining. Dr. Aung Myint received his medical degree from Nova Southeastern College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2013. He then went on to complete his residency and fellowship at George Washington University Medical Center in 2019. Dr. Nanda was born and raised in St. Petersburg, Florida. He received his M.D. from the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida and completed his internal medicine residency in Atlanta, Georgia at Emory University. He moved to Birmingham, Alabama and finished his gastroenterology fellowship at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. He is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, and the American Gastroenterological Association. He and his wife (who is a radiation oncologist) live in Tampa with their dog, and they love traveling all over the world. Dr. Nanda is a self-proclaimed sports fanatic and loves the Florida Gators, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Rays and Bolts.

Dr. Patel obtained his medical degree from Thomas Jefferson University in Pennsylvania. He then completed a residency in Internal Medicine at Emory University in Georgia. He then completed three years of Fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology from Cooper University Hospital (UMDNJ). Dr. Patel also completed an additional subspecialty training year in Advanced Therapeutic Endoscopy (Interventional Gastroenterology) for complex endoscopic procedures at the University of Maryland in Baltimore in 2017. Dr. Patel has previously treated patients in the private practice setting in Northern Virginia and worked in the VA system, and brings a broad scope of knowledge and experience before joining Gastro Florida in 2019. He is a member of The American Gastroenterology Association, The American College of Gastroenterology, and The American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. He is also board certified in Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). His wife and newborn son accompany Dr. Patel. His wife (a hematologist/oncologist) was raised in the Tampa Bay area, and her family still lives here, and they are very excited to get back together. Dr. Patel is an avid sports fan and now follows the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Lightning, and Devil Rays. He also enjoys the outdoors, traveling, and spending time with his family.

Dr. Roger Perez graduated in the top 15% of his class from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine where he earned a medical degree in Internal Medicine. He completed his internship and residency training at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, MA and completed Gastroenterology fellowship at the Mayo Clinic. In Practice for more than 20 years, Dr. Perez is board certified in Gastroenterology. He is a member of American College of Physicians, American Medical Association, and the American Gastroenterology Association. He has expertise in providing treatment for a wide variety of difficult gastroenterological disorders. Dr. Perez moved from New Haven to St. Pete in 2021. He is fluent in English and Spanish.

Dr. David B. Simmons is a graduate of the University of Florida College of Medicine. Dr. Simmons completed his residency training in internal medicine at the University of South Florida Affiliated Hospitals and completed a Gastroenterology fellowship at Medical College of Georgia. Dr. L. Michael Weiss is Board Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Internal Medicine and the subspecialty of Gastroenterology. He was born in Flushing, New York. He received a bachelor of arts from Brandeis University and his MD from New York Medical College. He did his internal medicine residency and gastroenterology fellowship at Emory University. He came to Clearwater in 1995 to join in practice with Gastroenterology Consultants of Clearwater. He is a past chairman of the gastroenterology department at Morton Plant Hospital. He continues to be very active in clinical research and has been the principal investigator in numerous gastrointestinal studies. He is actively involved with many charities and is on the board of directors of the Florida chapter of The Children's Heart Foundation. He is the past president of the West Florida Y Runners Club. He is an endurance athlete who has run more than 15 marathons and competed in the Ironman 70.3 World Championships.
