The silicone balloon will help facilitate weight loss by taking up about 1/3 of the space in your stomach, so you eat less. This helps patients eat smaller meals, allowing patients to stick to their diets.
The temporary balloon is placed for a six-month treatment and combined with a professionally supervised nutrition and exercise program for optimum weight loss. Coaching continues after the balloon is removed for six months for a total of 12-months of treatment.

Am I a candidate for Orbera?
Only a physician can tell you whether or not ORBERA is right for you. But if you’ve tried diet and exercise without success, ORBERA might be the tool for taking control of your eating behavior.
To qualify for ORBERA you must be:
- 18 years or older
- No prior gastric surgeries
- Have a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 30-40
- Be willing to participate supervised program
Placement and Removal of Orbera
Orbera is a reversible, non-surgical weight loss procedure, which means no incisions, stitches, or scars. The deflated balloon is placed in the stomach while the patient is under a mild sedative. The balloon is filled with saline until it’s about grapefruit size. It takes just 20-30 minutes and most people go home the same day.
The balloon is in place only temporarily, as opposed to permanent surgical alterations. After six months, the balloon will be removed through a quick non-surgical procedure while the patient is under mild-sedative.
Nutrition & Education
Most weight is lost in the first three months, but because the gastric balloon stays in for six months, you will learn the right amount of food to eat to maintain your new weight,
During regularly scheduled meetings, you and our team will work to develop long-term, sustainable, health habits that will allow you to keep the weight off.
By reinforcing proper portion control and lifestyle changes, many find it easier to maintain weight once the balloon is removed.

Patients should expect to feel nausea sick for the first 3-5 days. In some patients, symptoms may last up to two weeks.
